Cindy Feinberg is a survivor. She has battled alcohol and drug addiction, has defeated breast cancer and has sought safety from domestic abuse. Cindy shares her personal journey with refreshing honesty and triumph and has dedicated her life to helping others overcome the same struggles she has endured.

Cindy was in an abusive relationship, which led to her struggle with alcohol and drug addiction, when, in 1986, she turned her life around. Finally emotionally able to embrace change, Cindy left her abuser, got sober and was able to become a positive role model for her two young daughters.

While raising her young girls, Cindy simultaneously ran a successful furniture business. Being able to provide safety and financial security for her children, Cindy continued to find the strength to carry on. This inner strength has since been tested when Cindy learned she had breast cancer. Having struggled through enough and no where near ready to claim defeat, Cindy persevered and has emerged a force to be reckoned with.

Cindy now channels that power into helping those who have shared similar experiences as she has.

Cindy volunteers her time at the Retreat, a domestic violence agency in East Hampton, NY. For the Retreat, Cindy serves as a dedicated Board Member; helping to organize events and becoming extremely involved in the Retreat’s shelter for women and children.

Along with the Retreat Shelter Director, Cindy has started a peer support group for the women who have sought refuge from their abusers, helping to empower them and reclaim their self-esteem.

Cindy has also established an aftercare program for the women as they leave the shelter to provide continued support as they transition back into a life without abuse.

Haven spoken at two events about her experience with domestic violence; sharing her personal story of defeat, change, hope and strength; Cindy is an inspiration to others who need to be empowered and motivated by such a positive story of survival.

Cindy currently lives in Manhattan and East Hampton and has currently taken on her new role, as proud Grandma to Justin.
